Water Works! includes a 45 minute interactive lesson covering several key topics such as the hydrologic cycle, the cost of water and ways students can use it more efficiently, as well as curriculum materials on nine water subject areas. It also includes a site visit to a water treatment plant. is five has designed a one-day training workshop for Public Utility Commission representatives to enable them to deliver Water Works! to their local elementary schools. is five developed a comprehensive program designed to launch and support energy, water, solid waste, and natural environment improvements in elementary schools. The program includes the following components:
A) an Action Plan including case studies, field-tested classroom activities, & guidelines for performing waste, water & energy audits;
B) a one-day workshop for "green teams" in a school (i.e. teachers, principals and custodians) to review current environmental performance and learn how to take the next step in greening;
C) an entertaining and informative video for students, staff, trustees, etc. promoting a green school. GYS has been delivered to over 15 communities throughout Ontario.
is five developed a speakers kit on water conservation and efficiency designed to promote awareness of water efficiency measures in the residential sector. The kit includes information on getting ready to do a presentation and booking appointments, a detailed speaker's script and slides, a resource list, and a series of handout forms for audiences.
